BAFTAs TV 2019: Billie Piper cuts a chic figure in a one-shouldered blazer-style gown as she attends the star-studded ceremony. She’s nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in BBC thriller Collateral. And Billie Piper was every inch the leading lady as she turned heads in a black one-shouldered blazer-style dress as she attended the 2019 BAFTA TV Awards at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday.
The actress, 36, looked stunning in the quirky floor length number which featured a daring thigh-high split. The dramatic gown hugged the star’s curves perfectly, while the one-armed detail allowed Billie to perfectly show off her décolletage. The mum-of-two added height to her frame in a pair of pointed, black heels which featured a pretty silver buckle along the strap.
Billie finished her glamorous look with a smattering of glittering silver jewellery. Her blonde tresses were swept back into a chic up-do, while she added lashings of black mascara to her eyes. The star smouldered on the red carpet as she posed up a storm ahead of the prestigious event, where she is nominated for her role in Collateral. The Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards were held at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank, London, and were hosted by Graham Norton.
The BAFTA TV Awards is an annual celebration of the best British and international viewing offered to UK audiences.
This year, BBC America’s Killing Eve swept the board with three awards, with the hit thriller series’ leading star Jodie Comer winning Best Leading Actress, while her co-star Sandra Oh was also nominated for the gong.
The spy-action thriller also won the Drama Series award, as well as Best Supporting Actress for Fiona Shaw, who plays Carolyn Martens, and had also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Kim Bodnia, who plays Konstantin
Sadly the show also lost out on the award for Must-See Moment, which is voted for by the public, with its chilling last scene when Eve, played by Oh, stabs Villanelle, played by Comer.
Hot on Killing Eve’s heels, A Very English Scandal had an impressive 12 nominations, but only managed to win Best Supporting Actor for Ben Whishaw, along with three prizes in the Craft categories
Hugh Grant had been nominated for the Leading Actor gong for his character Jeremy Thorpe, while Monica Dolan, who plays Marion Thorpe, was up for the Supporting Actress gong.
Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly also walked away with two awards after a tumultuous year. They won Entertainment Programme for Britain’s Got Talent, as well as Best Reality TV and Constructed Factual for I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
The duo also lost out on Best Entertainment Performance to Lee Mack for his work on Would I Lie To You?
Ant made a return to television screens earlier this month for the new Britain’s Got Talent trailer, it it just the start of his comeback after he stepped down from all his commitments for a year after a difficult few months.
His personal issues – which saw him develop a painkiller addiction, end his marriage and commit a drink-driving offence – saw him sit out the last few episodes of BGT 2018, as well as Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, last spring.
Also with several nominations were Patrick Melrose, Bodyguard, The Little Drummer Girl, Mrs Wilson, Bros: After the Screaming Stops and Bandersnatch.
Benedict Cumberbatch walked away with Best Leading Actor for his performance in Patrick Melrose, beating out Hugh Grant, Lucian Msamati and Chance Perdomo.
